'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate quickly converted the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This sealed an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win earned a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
