Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
