Cars in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then found many other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking official said the incident made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
